Backyard Ultra is simple:
You run a 4.167-mile loop, known as a “yard” every hour, on the hour.
You must finish within 60 minutes and be back in the starting corral ready to go again.
If you don’t make it in time, or choose not to continue, you’re out.
At the start of the next hour, everyone who’s still in goes again.
This continues until only one runner completes a yard on their own, that person is the Last One Standing.
Because you can’t outrun the clock, most people naturally stick together, forming chatty, supportive groups out on the course.
You run together, rest together, and go again together.
It’s a rare format where everyone’s on the same journey, no matter how far they plan to go.
The fourth and final round takes place at Bedgebury, an out-and-back route through one of the South East’s most iconic locations.
You’ll follow wide, open forest trails with just 305ft (93m) of climb per loop, spread gently across rolling hills.
This course has been designed to wear you down slowly, just as a Backyard Ultra should.
• Out-and-back format
• 305ft (93m) of gentle rolling ascent per yard
• Wide, perfectly runnable gravel forest trails
• One route used for both day and night
• Easy access to your vehicle between laps
This is a course that helps you find your rhythm and keep moving forward, hour after hour.
• Capped at 120 runners
• Open to anyone aged 16+
• Interest free payment plans available
Whether you're aiming for one yard or one hundred, every runner starts equal: one loop, every hour, until only one remains.
Bedgebury is the fourth and final round of the Kent Backyard Ultra Series:
Four unique venues. One shared format.
Round One – 14th November 2025 — Vigo Village
Round Two – 10th January 2026 — Dover
Round Three – 7th March 2026 — Sholden
Round Four – 26th June 2026 — Bedgebury
Each location brings something different, but every event sticks to the same simple idea:
One loop. Every hour. Until only one remains.
Your effort always counts:
Complete at least 1 yard: Kent Backyard Ultra medal
Complete 24 yards (100 miles): Bronze Buckle
Be the Assist (2nd place): Silver Buckle
Be the Last One Standing: Gold Buckle
Most total yards across the series: Black Buckle
Enter with a series pass or just enter the rounds you want.
Every yard you complete adds to your series total.
Your overall distance is tracked and ranked across all four events.
Whether you're in it for one loop or aiming for the black buckle, every hour counts.

We plan every event around one question:
“How would I want to be treated?”
Backyard Ultra is a solo effort, but you’re never alone.
On this out-and-back course, you’ll pass other runners throughout the loop.
There’s time to chat, share encouragement, and keep each other going.
When night falls, at least one marshal will be out on a bike to help you stay visible and supported.
Even in the early hours, you’re part of something shared.
Round Four at Bedgebury is the final test of the 2025/26 series.
Wide trails. Rolling hills. And a format that asks for nothing more than your next loop.
Whether it’s your first round or your fourth, we’d love to see what you’ve got.
