Kent Backyard Ultra Series 2.1: Vigo
Friday 16 October 2026
9:00 PM Start
Vigo Rugby Club, Vigo Village, Kent, DA13 0UA
You decide your story.
Earned, not given.
Course Record: 28 yards (Andy Imms, 2025)
This is where Series 2 begins.
A night start.
Woodland trails.
A fresh scoreboard.
And the same question waiting when the bell comes round again.
The Kent Backyard Ultra Series is built for those who want more than a one-and-done race day. It is about going yard by yard, side by side, until the event asks something deeper than pace alone can answer.
At Vigo, that question starts at 9:00 PM.
You begin with nothing.
No distance banked.
No result waiting.
Just one yard.
And the chance to earn another.
The Backyard Ultra is simple on paper and relentless in practice.
You will:
There is only one finisher.
The Last Person Standing is the runner who can complete one more yard than anyone else.
Everyone else is recorded as DNF, regardless of how many yards they complete.
The Assist is the last runner to complete a yard before the winner.
Because this format strips things back.
You run.
You recover.
You go again.
Between yards, you share the space.
The same nerves.
The same fatigue.
The same decision, every hour.
That is what makes the Backyard Ultra different.
It is competitive.
But it is also shared.
Vigo Rugby Club provides the base camp for 2.1. of the series.
This is your event basecamp.
Where every yard starts.
Where every yard ends.
From here, the route heads out into the surrounding woodland.
A 9:00 PM start changes everything.
Headtorches on.
The noise drops.
The focus sharpens.
And the night starts to do its work.
More detailed event information, including, parking, crew guidance, and event-day logistics, will be shared closer to the event.
More informaion can be found here: 2.1. Event Information
This is the full event.
You will continue for as long as you can complete each yard within the hour.
There is no set finish.
No fixed distance.
You keep going until you can’t make it back in time.
This is the same event, on the same course, at the same time.
Your entry is limited to 7 hours.
You start with everyone else.
You run the same yards.
You are part of the same event.
It is the perfect way to experience the format without committing to the full open-ended challenge.
Many runners start here, then come back for the full event.
