Curious about the Backyard Ultra format? Come run with the Hellfire Crew.
Join us on Saturday 19th July at Vigo Rugby Club for a completely free, relaxed two-hour taster session.
Whether you’ve already signed up for Round One of the Kent Backyard Ultra Series, or you’re just curious about how it works — this is your chance to test the format, meet the crew, and run the official Day and Night Yard routes in great company.
What’s happening
We’ll run two easy-paced 4.1-mile loops — one on each course — with an hour to complete each, just like in the real thing. This isn’t a race. It’s a social group run.
Run one loop or both — or once you know the route, feel free to head back out as many times as you like
No signage — our Hellfire crew will guide the way
Dogs welcome
Totally free — just RSVP so we can plan numbers
Stick around after for a drink at the bar and a post-run chat
Who’s it for?
✅ Already signed up? Preview the course and practice your pacing
✅ Thinking about entering? Come and see what it’s all about — no pressure
✅ Aged 15+ and into trail running? You’ll fit right in
Schedule
9:00am – Arrive and check-in
9:30am – First loop starts
11:30am – All done
What to bring
Water (it’s going to be warm)
Trail shoes (the surface is uneven but not technical)
Trail snacks (because every social should involve snacks)
GPX files are available under the Routes tab on the event page.
Places are limited to 50 runners, so please RSVP if you're planning to come.
Can’t make it? Just let us know — we’ll offer your place to someone else.
Bring your mates. Bring the family. The bar will be open, the vibe will be laid-back, and Trosley Park's brilliant play areas are just a short walk away.
This is what Hellfire is all about:
Running together. Resting together. Pushing forward together.

Car Sharing:
If you can, please consider car sharing with others coming along — it’s better for the environment, makes parking easier for everyone, and is a great way to meet fellow runners before we even start!
Feel free to post in the Facebook Event page or our community groups if you’d like to offer or request a lift.
By Train:
The nearest station is Meopham, around 10 minutes away by car/taxi.
Regular trains run to Meopham from London Victoria, Bromley South, and Chatham.
From Meopham station, it’s a short taxi ride or cycle to the Rugby Club.

Bus services in this rural area are limited, so we recommend driving or using local taxis if arriving by train.
