Ever wondered what it’s like to run a Backyard Ultra?
Curious how the format works, or just want to test the course before race day?
Join us on Saturday 19th July at Vigo Rugby Club for a completely free, fun, and informal Backyard Ultra Taster Session.
We’ll be running both the official Day Yard and Night Yard routes — each 4.1 miles — that will be used in Round One of the Kent Backyard Ultra Series this November.
You'll complete each "yard" (loop) within 60 minutes — just like in the real thing.
It's a chance to test your pacing, practice recovery, and get a proper feel for the format.
Perfect for first-timers and those prepping for November.
This is a guided group run — we’ll all stick together.
There will be no signage — our Hellfire crew will guide you.
You can also download GPX files from the Routes tab on the event page.
We’re keeping to the official format — but relaxing a few rules. Dogs are welcome!
This is unofficial and informal — you run entirely at your own risk.
Only 50 places available — please only book if you're definitely coming. If plans change, let us know so we can offer your spot to someone else.
9:00am – Arrive and check in
9:30am – First yard begins
~11:30am – We’re all done
The bar will be open throughout — grab a drink, stick around, and join us for a chat.
✅ Anyone entered into Round One – preview the course, dial in your pacing
✅ Anyone considering entering – come see what all the fuss is about
✅ Any runner aged 15 or over who wants to try the Backyard format in a relaxed setting
Water and a few trail snacks
Trail shoes highly recommended, the route’s mixed surface and can be uneven
A good attitude, it’s a social, chatty, friendly morning out
You’re more than welcome to bring family or friends along to soak up the atmosphere, the bar area will remain open throughout the event.
Got little ones in tow?
There are some brilliant play areas at nearby Trosley Park, just a short walk away, which make for a great morning adventure while you’re out on the trails.
Booking is essential, we need to manage numbers and make sure everyone gets the full experience.
Invite your friends!
When you sign up, you’ll get a referral code to share, and if someone uses it, you’ll both receive a discount for future Hellfire Events.
If you’ve ever wanted to try a Backyard Ultra, or just fancy a great morning out with a friendly crew , we’d love to see you there.
Come give it a go.
Earned, Not Given.
