KENT BACKYARD ULTRA — Round One: Vigo

Friday 14th November 2025
Start Time: 9:00 PM

The Format

The Backyard Ultra format is simple:
Run a 4.167-mile loop (a “yard”) every hour, on the hour, until only one runner remains.
Finish the yard within 60 minutes to stay in. Miss the bell, and you're out.

Round One at Vigo kicks off under the stars — a rare Friday night start to set the tone for the season.

Backyard Ultras can be challenging — but they’re also one of the most sociable events out there.
You’ll run together, rest together, and push through together, one yard at a time.

You don’t need to commit to the full series to take part.
During booking, you’ll choose between three entry options:
• Standalone Event
• 7 Hour Challenge
• Series Pass (all four events)

Places are capped at 120 runners across all entry types.
If you want in — book now and spread the cost.

The 2025/26 Series

This is the first of four rounds in the Kent Backyard Ultra Series.

Series Dates:
• Round One – 14th November 2025 — Confirmed venue: Vigo Rugby Club
• Round Two – 10th January 2026 — Location TBC
• Round Three – 7th March 2026 — Location TBC
• Round Four – 26th June 2026 — Location TBC

Venues for Rounds 2–4 will be announced between May 16th and 30th.
Each event will bring a new route, new conditions, and new questions to answer.

The Course

There is a night and a day route.

Each yard weaves through woodland trails, open paths around Trosley Country Park, and sections of the North Downs Way.
Expect runnable terrain, steady climbs, and wide-open skies.

Every yard is designed to wear you down slowly — just how it should be.

7 Hour Challenge Option

Not ready to run through the night? You still might.

The 7 Hour Challenge follows the same course and format — just capped at seven yards.
Starting at 9:00 PM, you’ll be running deep into the early hours.
It’s not a warm-up. It’s your first real look at what this format demands.

Series Pass Option

Want more than one event?
Choose the Series Pass during booking and secure your place at all four rounds of the 2025/26 Kent Backyard Ultra Series.

It saves you money, guarantees your spot, and gives you a better shot at leaderboard prizes — including the Black Buckle for the highest yard total.

When you choose the Series Pass, you also get:
• £60 saving compared to individual entry
• Flexible, interest-free payment options (split into four manageable payments)
• Priority parking at every event
• Your name printed on your race bib
• 5% discount code to use — and share — on any Hellfire event in 2025/26
• Access to exclusive partner discounts (coaching, physio, kit and more)

Medals & Buckles

Every effort counts — and it gets recognised:

• Complete at least 1 yard: Kent Backyard Ultra medal
• Complete 24 yards / 100 miles: Bronze Buckle
• Be the Assist (2nd place): Silver Buckle
• Be the Last One Standing: Gold Buckle
• Most yards across the series: Black Buckle

How the Series Works

You can enter one event or all four.
Every yard you complete is added to your series total.

• Run 7 yards at Round One
• Run 10 at a future round
• You’ll have 17 yards listed against your name on the series leaderboard

You don’t need to win to be counted — you just need to keep showing up.

The Way We Run Things

We keep things simple — always.

Mandatory Kit (just the essentials):
• Waterproof jacket with taped seams
• Headtorch (min. 300 lumens)
• Spare battery or secondary light source
• Reusable bottle or cup
• Trail shoes with appropriate grip
• Enough food to fuel your entire effort

We don’t raise prices closer to race day.
We don’t charge admin or transaction fees.
The price you see is the price you pay.

Yes, we need to make money to run these events — but that doesn’t mean we can’t do the right thing while we do it.

We’re runners too. Every decision starts with one question:
“How would we want to be treated?”

Spread the Cost — No Extra Fees

You can spread the cost of entry — totally free.
Time payment options are available for:

• The Series Pass
• Solo entries
• The 7 Hour Challenge

No interest. No hidden fees. Just flexibility.
